BilaEmpower is a First Nations-led charity that delivers culturally grounded support through our Employee Assistance Program services across Australia. Our approach combines cultural integrity with strong clinical practice, aimed at economic empowerment for First Nations professionals running their own small private practices. At BilaEmpower, we are not just a team; we are a community dedicated to healing, empowerment, and supporting positive change in First Nations mental health.

At our core, BilaEmpower strives to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of our people while creating genuine opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinicians to expand and sustain their professional practices.

If you are a First Nations individual and a qualified psychologist, counsellor, social worker, or psychotherapist with your own private practice, and you are passionate about providing culturally grounded support, honouring culture, and making a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you regarding contractor opportunities.

Clinicians who work with BilaEmpower do so as independent contractors, not employees. This means you continue to operate your own practice while receiving referrals through the BilaEmpower EAP network, which emphasizes culturally grounded support, particularly in the context of First Nations mental health. Under this arrangement you: Maintain full independence of your professional practice, Invoice BilaEmpower for services delivered, Manage your own taxation, superannuation and business obligations, and Maintain your own supervision and professional development requirements. This model is designed intentionally to strengthen First Nations-owned allied health businesses rather than absorb them into a traditional employment structure, thereby creating valuable psychologist job opportunities.

To ensure safe, high-quality service delivery, clinicians must hold current professional registration and appropriate qualifications to provide culturally grounded support, especially in the context of First Nations mental health. You must be registered and in good standing with one of the following organizations: Australian Psychological Society or be an AHPRA registered psychologist, Australian Association of Social Workers, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, or the Australian Counselling Association. Additionally, you must hold a recognized mental health qualification aligned with your professional registration, which can also enhance your psychologist job opportunities.

All clinicians must maintain appropriate insurance and documentation to provide culturally grounded support, especially in the context of First Nations mental health. This includes: Professional Indemnity Insurance with a minimum cover of $20 million, Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $20 million, a National Police Clearance issued within the past 12 months, a valid Australian Business Number, and the ability to issue invoices, including electronic invoicing, which is essential for those exploring psychologist job opportunities.

BilaEmpower operates as a virtual-first national EAP provider, offering culturally grounded support to address First Nations mental health needs. This model enables clinicians across Australia to provide assistance to employees, regardless of their location. 

To deliver services safely and professionally, clinicians must have:

- A secure laptop or desktop computer

- Reliable phone access

- Stable high-speed internet

- Access to Zoom and Microsoft Teams

- A confidential counselling space

- The ability to access Halaxy for secure client records and case notes

Our intake and CRM systems support consistent service delivery nationally, while clinicians maintain responsibility for their own professional setup, privacy obligations, and the availability of psychologist job opportunities.

BilaEmpower is not a high-volume, transactional EAP provider. We are building something different; a culturally grounded support service that values relational practice, trust, and meaningful outcomes, particularly in the area of First Nations mental health.
